Privacy Policy
What this site collects, how it’s used, and your choices.
Effective January 1, 2026
This policy explains what information danieltatar.com (the personal website of Daniel Tatar, “we” or “us”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
When you use a contact form on this site, you send us your name, your email address, who your message is for, and your message. We use this only to read and reply to your message. Form messages are delivered by email to Daniel Tatar’s inbox.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics (through the MonsterInsights plugin) to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed, the type of device and browser, approximate location, and the site that referred you. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this.
- Security. We use Wordfence to protect the site from attacks. It records IP addresses and basic request details, and may block traffic that looks malicious.
- Server logs. Our web host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses and the pages requested.
Embedded content
Pages on this site include videos from YouTube and audio from SoundCloud. When you view or play embedded content, those services may collect information about you and set their own cookies, as if you visited their sites directly. Their privacy policies apply to that content.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for analytics and, for site administrators only, to keep them signed in. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Google user data
This site connects to Daniel Tatar’s own Google account through the Gmail API for one purpose: sending the email notifications generated by this site’s contact forms. It does not access, read, or store the contents of any mailbox, and it never requests access to visitors’ Google accounts. Data received from Google APIs is not sold, not shared with third parties, and not used for advertising.
The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run this site: our web host, Google (Analytics and Gmail), and the embedded media services described above. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
Contact form messages are kept in our email for as long as they are useful for the conversation and our records. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings. Security logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted automatically.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by using the contact form on this site.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
